French Doors is a new and important initiative aimed at making the San Miguel de Allende art world meaningfully accessible to residents and visitors alike. Through partnerships with select galleries and artists’ studios, we are developing a network focused on promoting the best art available in San Miguel de Allende and beyond. The initiative is dedicated to increasing the visibility of our town’s most important established and up-and-coming artists and galleries. French Doors not only assists visitors and local residents in their search for great art, we also provide guidance vis-a-vis the local and international art market. At the core of French Doors are a number of tools that can be customized to meet the individual needs of our clients. These include dinners at prestigious venues with movers-and-shakers from the local art scene, Art Walks (conducted by licensed tour guides), Gallery Nights (in which specified galleries remain open late to open new shows), Artist-assisted Workshops (studio visits with the artist explaining their work, themes and techniques), and a weekly Newsletter featuring the week’s art-related events. At the center of the project is the San Miguel de Allende Art Map, available digitally through a QR code as well as in hardcopy at galleries and other cultural institutions around town. As our activities are designed to benefit the entire art community, we will feature a “Gallery of the Month” and an “Artist of the Month” on a monthly basis, sharing their promotional material widely through press coverage and activities that center around their works.
