Richard Adelman, M. A., maintains a private and group practice in the Feldenkrais Method., in which he has over 50 years of experience.  A Guild-Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, he is also certified in Pilates and integrates Osteopathic techniques and Egoscure exercises into his work as well. His unique approach to Feldenkrais is also informed by the Somatic Emotional approach of Stanley Keleman, with whom he has studied since 1970. Due to the influence of Keleman, his work goes beyond biomechanics and technique  to help his patients appreciate the subjectivity of their bodily experiences and deepen their knowledge of how and why they use or misuse their bodies as they do in daily life.
Group classes are offered in Salón Semilla at Mercado Sano twice weekly: 12-1:30, Mondays and Wednesdays. These classes are publicized as being for seniors, but they are suitable for anyone seeking an especially non-challenging Feldenkrais experience. While you are lying on the floor, we use easy, verbally-guided sequences of slow, gentle movements to reprogram your nervous system to relieve pain and stress, improve coordination, posture and stability, and prevent falling. Students report feeling more tranquil, confident, and grounded in themselves.
Private sessions are recommended for people in pain and those who wish to deepen their learning. Private appointments include gentle hands-on fully-clothed bodywork, personalized versions of the types of movements done in classes, and guidance in how to improve your self-use in daily tasks such as working at your computer, playing a musical instrument, or finding a comfortable sleeping position. Private sessions take place in my office or at your home.
